Walking the tightrope of Nostalgic + modern for Florida-based non-profit music foundation, Creative Waves
Overview
Creative Waves is a non-profit foundation that helps underprivileged kids in the US access life-changing music education and opportunities. Founded by Grammy-nominated songwriter Ali Tamposi, the foundation is constantly fundraising to help improve music in the community and support the future of music education, which has received massive budget cuts. We worked with their team to design a powerful graphic brand and site that fulfilled their ambitions.
"We love working on non-profit briefs such as this one. So we had great fun designing for a softer context than our frequent business clients."
Our design thinking
This project allowed us to shake the ties of our traditional website methods and go for more contemporary and simplified visuals. With a subdued colour scheme of rich, warm beige and deep green reminded us of the aesthetic of vintage music sheets. Punchy type and sepia-toned imagery create a balance of early American blues with a 21st-century twist.
Finished product
We designed a renewed visual brand and functioning website in six weeks. At Shoreditch Studio, we value taking on projects that support their local community. Many non-profits are held back by a lack of funding or awareness; establishing a solid visual impact supports the hard work that goes on within grassroots organisations by drawing interest and attention. We are so excited to see the impact Creative Waves makes on the lives of those who benefit from their music education.
