Upgrading an online NHS consultation and health platform
Overview
In early 2021, SDS was commissioned by NHS Virtually to overhaul its online consultation platform.
The Virtually platform was created to help primarily London and metropolitan areas of the UK to more effectively deal with a high demand for GP appointments, a situation hugely exacerbated by the COVID pandemic. It was clear that the platform needed to better appeal to users, and be generally easier to use for practitioners and the general public.
“The team at Shoreditch have been our go-to UX/UI partner for the last year and have helped set the future feature vision of our product and marketing sites, I would recommend!”
Our design thinking
The challenge was to create an all-encompassing consultation and health platform.
Initially we knew we could revive the pre-existing platform with a UI overhaul, still sticking with the recognised Virtually NHS colours, but using them in a way that gave a softer and more comforting feel to the medical platform.
Alongside this UI overhaul, we revised the UX of the platform to make it easier to use for all regardless of age, language or disability. Using trending UX techniques, our mission was to create a platform that seemed intuitive to even the most unknowledgeable of users.
Finished product
The GP express service enables the user to have a walk-in consultation with a specially trained pharmacist and leave the pharmacy with prescription medication.
We identified key areas to best aid in this user experience by informing the user of the new service and their goal completion. With the help of Shoreditch Studio, the NHS Virtually service was launched with smooth and clean visuals, which helped improve the useability of the App.
